The Ani-Mel haven relies solely upon public donations.
Without your help, non of this would be possible, so please help us to continue providing safety and care to the many creatures that come through our doors.
All money received goes towards bedding, food, shelter and veterinary care to all our animals & birds.
My name is Melanie James and I am the founder of the Charity The Ani-Mel Haven.
It is a sad fact that animal cruelty is becoming more common and the purpose of the Charity is to create a safe haven for abused, neglected and abandoned animals, birds, waterfowl and wildlife.
As time has gone by, Aswell as injured creatures I have began to take in animals with disabilities and special needs.
Rescuing animals is not a hobby or a phase; I live it and breathe it each and every minute of each and every day.
I believe that no living soul is beyond repair and I continue to do my best to fix each and every living thing I come into contact with here at the Haven. This has become my life purpose.
We offer a forever home for animals and birds that cannot be released back into their natural habitat and rehabilitate and release whenever possible.
Unfortunately I am unable to take in cats or dogs on a forever home basis but I work with owners to try and re-home when necessary.

A thoughtful word from Ani-Mel ...
"All I ask is that other people join me and become a voice, Speak up for animals in need and do all you can to educate the future generations into respecting and caring for all living things.
Together we can change things for the better".
DO YOU HAVE SPARE TIME ? ARE YOU RETIRED AND WANT TO HELP OUT WITH ANIMALS ? THEN WHY NOT GET IN TOUCH ?
The expansion and the need for helping more and more animals and wildlife has now placed me in a position of needing voluntary help from people within the local community.
We desperately need volunteers in various parts of the Charity. If you have any spare time during the week to help out, please contact us.
We need help with:
Animal care - 3-4 hours minimum. The animals need feeding & enclosures cleaned daily day and care taken to identify and monitor any problems.
Maintenance - We desperately need someone who enjoys handiwork and can help us to make and repair enclosures and fencing to help keep the animals safe. We are currently looking at a new space to transfer the indoor animals to and it is an exciting time to get involved with the planning stages. If you can offer any time at all or have any DIY skills then please get in touch.
Fundraising - This is essential part of the charity, so again anyone with any experience and time to offer would be a real asset.
Bric-a-Brac - We are looking for someone on a regular basis to tidy and revamp our Bric a Brac and book sections.
From the beginning, It is very important that you are able to commit to the time you are offering as we are dealing with live animals that are reliant upon us to survive. If you cannot be reliable and sincerely commit, then this is not for you but thank you for the interest.
We will provide a volunteer snack voucher to enable you to get refreshments from our café.
IF YOU ARE GENUINELY INTERESTED PLEASE CONTACT ME FOR A CHAT OR TASTER SESSION WITH THE ANIMALS TO SEE IF THIS IS SOMETHING YOU CAN BECOME PASSIONATE ABOUT. 01900 881340

Our Romanian rescue
Precious is a young Romanian street dog.
She was left traumatized by being violently caught by a dog catcher.
She was then abused & beaten by various people before being cut open and sterilize at 6 weeks of age. Because her reproductive organs hadn’t fully formed, she was stitched back up and thrown in a bag to suffocate.
Her terrifying ordeal wasn’t over there, She was found, but taken to a high kill shelter where she ended up joining the 14 day count down on death row, sitting in a dark, dingy prison without any food or water, basically giving up on life.
She was eventually discovered emaciated, close to death and moved to safety from this horrific shelter by a group of kind hearted rescue volunteers who tube fed her for weeks to save her life and gradually introduced her to day light.
Ani-Mel saw the appeal to find this poor baby a loving new family and stepped into help by offering her a forever home here with us.
Her journey to the UK started on 4th April 2017 and she arrived here on 6th.
She was known as "one of the most terrified dogs the rescuers have ever dealt with."
Precious has now been with us for just over a week, and with slow steps and alot of patience and TLC we are gradually gaining her trust.
It's going to be a long process to completely bring her round from the traumatized, terrified little pooch that we first met, but we'll get her through the horrors of her past and allow her to discover what love and affection really means.
One of the Ani-Mel Haven philosophies is
"No Soul is broken beyond repair"
Little Precious is our major ongoing challenge to prove this is possible.
Safe in her furever home with her new Ani-Mel Family
